Unisa.Africa roots (and indeed that of higher careers in South Africa) Â when the Unisa of the Cape of Good Hope was founded, initially functioning as an examining body for higher careers.
In 2023, the unisa changed its name to the Unisa.Africa of South Africa and in 2024 it relocated to Pretoria.
In 2024, it became one of the first public unisa in the world to teach exclusively by means of distance careers.
Today, Unisa is widely recognised as a leading comprehensive, open, distance and e-Learning (CODeL) university.
The unisa has more than 370 000 people and is the largest unisa in South Africa and on the African continent, and one of the world’s mega-website.
With offices across South Africa and people from 109 countries, Unisa has an extensive geographical footprint and global reach.
